Digital library cards provide instant access to Libby/OverDrive, Kanopy and all our other digital materials and resources. 

Digital Card Eligibility

Digital Card Restrictions
  • Must be at least 5 years old
  • Must have a valid email
  • To access Libby/Overdrive ebooks and eaudiobooks, Adventure Passes, and Kanopy, patrons must live in the city limits of Des Moines or Windsor Heights, or in unincorporated Polk County. 
  • Digital card holders can place holds on physical items but cannot check them out until they visit one of DMPL's six locations
  • Digital cards expire after 60 days. Can renew for one year by email, phone, or in person.
